Skylights
“Officially. Emphatically. Undeniably.” – Ross Hepenstall, Yorkshire Evening Post
“That’s Skylights… sounding really good” – John Kennedy, Radio X
“The indie-rockers from York produce outstanding performances fizzing with energy and conviction throughout and have their loyal fans longing for more” – The Yorkshire Evening Post
Infusing brit pop and post punk influences from the likes of Oasis, Courteeners and The Verve, indie rock quartet Skylights are building a palpable buzz in the North. Following on from their debut single, ‘YRA’, which was featured on Leeds United 100-year anniversary video, Skylights have sold out headline shows at Belgrave music hall (350 capacity), The Wardrobe (450 capacity) and Leeds University sold out in less then a week (1000 capacity). In July 2022 they played their biggest ever headline show to date at O2 Academy Leeds.
This has led to huge support slots with the likes of Shed Seven, The Sherlocks and The Pigeon Detectives, as well as sold out headline shows north of the border in Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Their number 2 UK physical charting hit ‘Enemies’ clinically evokes the cathartic lyrical presence of Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie which has led it to be picked up by Radio X’s new music guru John Kennedy and a live appearance on SkySports show Soccer AM. Skylights are set to assert themselves as one of the most exciting rock bands in the UK.
Skylights debut album, ‘What You Are’, achieved phenomenal success reaching number 34 in the UK album charts, and featured tracks like ‘Darkness Falls’ and ‘Outlaw’.
2023 is already shaping up to be a huge year for the Yorkshire outfit, not least after selling out their Lemon Tree (500 capacity) show in Aberdeen in under 24 hours. They have also announced shows at Leeds Beckett SU, Middlesbrough Empire and the iconic King Tut’s in Glasgow. The peak of their summer will be a sold out Millennium Square Leeds with none other than Shed Seven and Cast. Believe the hype.
